Happy Tails will not perform a matting-relief shave-down unless the pet owner completes and submits this form. If authorization is not provided, we may stop, decline, or reschedule the grooming service when proceeding would be unsafe or uncomfortable for the pet.
Important Information
- Severe matting can make humane brushing unsafe or painful, and a short clip may be the only safe option.
- Shaving matted coats can reveal skin irritation, redness, sores, hot spots, or parasites that were hidden by the coat.
- Existing matting may also cause skin sensitivity, clipper irritation, or uneven coat appearance while regrowth occurs.
- Grooming around tightly matted areas carries increased risk of nicks, cuts, and minor abrasions, bruising, hematomas, and post-grooming sensitivity despite careful handling.
- Happy Tails may remove as much coat as reasonably necessary for the pet's comfort and safety, which may result in a very short or uneven appearance.
- Happy Tails may stop the service and recommend veterinary care if the matting or the pet's condition cannot be handled safely in the salon.
This acknowledgment documents your informed authorization. It does not reduce Happy Tails' responsibility to use reasonable care or permit grooming to continue when doing so would be unsafe.
